The delegation of officials from The People’s Bank of China (China’s central bank), Tibet Autonomous Region led by deputy governor Mr. Liu Jiorong met with CEO of Himalayan Bank, Mr. Ashoke SJB Rana and other senior officials of the bank. During the meeting, CEO Mr. Rana briefed the Chinese delegation about the growing business between Nepal and China and future prospects in the card transactions.

In Nepal, Himalayan Bank has been issuing and acquiring China UnionPay card. Currently, it is issuing UnionPay card in USD currency and in the near future, it is planning to issue those cards in CNY currency which will facilitate Nepalese tourist and businessmen visiting China for smoother transactions.With the growing number of Chinese tourist, the usage of UnionPay card in Nepal has been growing over past few years. Himalayan Bank with its 92 ATMs and 2800+ POS terminals have been providing card payment service all over Nepal, where UnionPay card alongwith other card brands like Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express, SCT are accepted.
